Why Japanese language? - Advantages
What is your purpose for learning Japanese? Is there any benefit
to speak Japanese language? There are many advantages gained from
learning Japanese language.
The UK and Japan maintain a good relationship and keep exchanging
in many areas: culture, trade, etc. Here are some examples of how
Japanese language will be to your advantage.
Staying in Japan - cultural exchange
"The JET programme" (the Japan Exchange and Teaching
Programme: JET) is a project to promote language education and regional
internationalization. JET provides you a chance to work and stay
in Japan with secure status.
Successful applicants are going to stay in Japan with firm job
and legal status. Often their contracting organisation will assist
participants in finding accommodation.
Depending on the position and its duties, applicants may be required
to be proficient in Japanese language. Other positions require successful
applicants to make an effort to study or continue studying the Japanese
language prior to and after arriving in Japan.

Japan as a hub to Asia and the Pan Pacific region
There is a huge amount of trade between the UK and Japan, and that
keeps expanding. At the same time, Japan has been maintaining the
position of one of the main coutries which are dealing with other
Asian countries.
Like New Zealand recently, some countries regard Japan as a very
important trading partner.
For logistical reasons, trade between the UK and other asian countries
has not expanded at the same rate as that between Japan and asia.
I personally think these statistics are showing potential opportunity
that Japan can be a "hub" to Asia and the Pan Pacific
region when the UK expands its business. This is one reason why
learning Japanese language provides an advantage.
The UK as a gateway to whole EU from Japan
In the field of manufacturing, Japanese investment in the EU accounts
for about 40% of total value.
As a reflection, many Japanese companies are operating their business
in the UK and those branches are targetting the whole EU, not only
the UK.
These days mainstream business tends to hire local residents rather
than send their workers from their original location. This shows
that there are many opportunities and advantages, even in the UK,
if you are a good communicator in Japanese language.
